On Strike! Me Too!

It has been a while since I wrote anything, so I will try and jam as much into 500 words as I can. If you start counting the words in this blog to hold me to my promise… you should seek some sort of medical help. It may or may not be under 500 words.

The world went and got even more messy since my last writing. The only thing consistent so far is that all politicians, well maybe not all, most politicians lie about everything. I think our local mayor here in my home town is a pretty good lady and I haven’t caught her in a lie yet. There, I may have found one.

If you want to know exactly how I feel about all politicians, refer to my blog titled, “Chop Saw”, I am certain my feelings haven’t changed.

Donald Trump is still wealthy. Elon Musk is wealthier and Jeff Bezos, another wealthy dude, drops more stuff off at my front door this year than the nest of Barn Swallows did when they decided to make a home above my front door. Who knew tiny little birds could defecate in such volume?

I bought a cute little home last year around Christmas time that needed a “few repairs”. My thoughts at the time were to spend a few months cleaning it up and adding a few new fixtures and stuff. I hoped to get it nice and spiffy, so someone could rent it. I will let you know when my “few months” are over and it is ready to move in.

In other really important news, President Biden has begun using the “short” stairs at the back of Air-force 1 instead of the long dramatic “tall” stairs at the front of the massive plane. Many, not me, are giving him loads of crap for it. As far as I know, the man is 107 years old. I can’t even navigate the one step on my back porch without looking for a hand rail, and I am nowhere close to his age. If I were running this country, I’d take the short stairs too and on top of that, I would make the media and anyone else I didn’t like, take the long set of stairs at the front of the plane.

It seems that the United Auto Workers are on strike. As you raise a clinched fist in a show of solidarity with the UAW and their efforts to stick it to the man, keep in mind that in Detroit, the birthplace of mass-produced cars, you can buy a 3-bedroom 2 bath house for 12$. You can also get a 50% discount if you buy an entire abandoned block.

It seems the UAW demands are basically higher pay for less hours worked. Well that makes perfect sense to me, that is exactly what I would like also.

My nobility and compassion took over and as I was looking out for my fellow brothers and sisters on the assembly line, I looked up the average salary per hour for UAW by state for last year 2022. I discovered that Washington State UAW makes the most at 21.97 per hour but on the other hand, my home state of Arkansas the UAW makes a whopping 13.93. Upon discovering this, I was sorely disappointed in the Natural State (Arkansas) for two reasons; I had no idea there were any UAW plants in Arkansas and… I forget the other one.

All this work stoppage and contract negotiations talk forced me to do some more research. I have become a research specialist if you care to know…I looked up the price of a brand-new Ford F150 truck similar to the 2012 model that I have, except the new models don’t come with screeching brakes or 140 thousand miles on the odometer, and the check engine light doesn’t pop on every other day, but other than that, they are exactly the same.

After my extensive research, I discovered that I will not be able to afford a new model truck anytime soon and neither will any of the UAW workers currently on strike in ANY state.

So if you think logically, most of the UAW workers can’t afford to buy a brand new Ford F150 truck but they can buy a dozen houses in Detroit for roughly the cost of a dozen donuts. Something seems very odd about that.

Oh, I almost forgot, the SAGAFTRA writers in Hollywood are on strike and nobody gives shit. Never the less, I researched their plight and objectives and I discovered that; their demands are for more pay and larger font credit scrolling in return for less creativity and nauseating entertainment. I am embarrassingly unclenching my fists in solidarity.

I’m sure I have missed a bunch of stuff, which I will realize the minute I post the blog so forgive me for lack of awareness and diminished brain function. Both have been an issue for me my entire life. It was 842 if you intend to word count me, which is why I’m going on strike now.
